Stories of Healing, Love, and Loss
This Divine Exchange was especially personal for me. Just a few weeks ago, we lost our beloved puppy, Summer. She lived only 1 year, 1 month, and 1 day as her life was tragically cut short by a cancerous tumour on her spine.
The vet at Fitzpatricks Referrals, Mark, had such empathy for Summer and my family and gave us all the time we needed to be with her and get her to sleep naturally in our arms surrounded by love before she actually put her to sleep. Our hearts are hurting and yet we know that the memories will filter back to warm our hearts again with the precious times we had with Summer. The grief and trauma of losing her so young have been incredibly raw and overwhelming.

In recent years, there has been increasing concern about the well-being of teenagers and young adults across the UK. Many young people face pressures that can feel overwhelming—social media comparisons, academic stress, relationship challenges, family issues, and an uncertain future, to name a few. For some, these feelings can become very intense, and it might seem like leaving the planet is the only way to find relief.
In the UK, the statistics are sobering: young people aged 15-24 have a higher risk of leaving the planet. In 2022, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported that 14.8 deaths per 100,000 people aged 20-24 were due to this. Among teenagers aged 15-19, the rate was 6.4 per 100,000—a sobering reminder of the serious challenges many face.

The Joy of Rescue Dogs
I’m so pleased that it is International Dog Day which brings awareness to the joy of having a dog in the family, moreover a rescue dog. I am especially happy to have recently added to my long line of rescue dogs by welcoming two big, young rescue dogs from Dali Dog Cyprus: Freya and Summer.
Freya (in this photo with me) is an elegant, gentle giant and has the sweetest soul, and I feel she was sent to me by my previous Cyprus rescue dog, Arthur, who sadly passed last year. I was honoured to be able to give him a home at the end of his life, I acted as a hospice for him – I made sure that for all his lifetime of suffering that with me he got to know what being loved was, what being cared for was and to feel secure.

Without a sense of belonging we can feel lost
My raison d’etre for founding Sacred Bond as a go-to reference spiritual tool was to not only to offer tips and spiritual practices, I felt compelled to build a notice board of other sacred agents in the field who support people with whatever they may be facing, offering anyone suffering from temporary anxiety, depression or experiencing feeling alone and lost. These are the heroes I want to celebrate and highlight so they can be found and shared and ultimately save our sanity and our lives. Why? …because I’ve been there.
